“And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD;
and great shall be the peace of thy children.”
--Isaiah 54:13
The Liturgy of the Word Children’s Program seeks to reach the hearts and minds of our littlest parishioners by offering a weekly opportunity for children to learn the Gospel on their own level at the Sunday 9:00 am Family Mass. An amazing community of adult volunteers share a child-tailored version of the week's Gospel and facilitate an engaging Gospel-related learning experience. Children from the older group are often called upon to serve as gift bearers; children from the younger group often assist as collection basket bearers. The Liturgy of the Word Children’s Program is an integral part of the St. Gabriel Christian Formation and Education Commission.

When & where is children's liturgy of the word?
St. Gabriel Children's Liturgy of the Word is facilitated almost every weekend of the year at the Sunday 9:00 am Family Mass, including summer months. Children are called to the Altar for a blessing and follow a parish volunteer to meeting rooms on the lower level of the parish rectory. To enhance age-appropriate ministry, Pre-Kindergarten children (ages 3-5) are grouped together and children in K-3rd Grades are grouped together.
-
What are the recommended ages?
Children's Liturgy of the Word welcomes all children ages 3 through Grade 3. No registration is required.
-
Never been before?
Parents are welcome to join at any time and are especially encouraged to tag along on your child’s first Sunday Liturgy. We look forward to seeing you at 9:00 am Mass!
-
Is there a cost?
There is no cost for sending your children to Children's Liturgy. However, if participating parish families should wish to make a contribution in kind, art supplies such as crayons, glue, and construction paper are most welcome!

Can I assist?
Absolutely! We are always seeking adult group leaders and liturgy assistants. Four adult group leaders are scheduled to teach every Sunday, plus liturgy assistants as available; all volunteers must complete the Protecting God's Children program. To learn more, please contact Sarah Krueger.
