A Note from the Nurse
I have found that many people are surprised to find that I am not the school nurse, but instead a community health nurse for the people of St. Gabriel’s Parish. In addition to the things you may see me associated with, like this column, the blood drives, and the cancer support group; I also offer other supportive services. During the school year, I connect the school children with the elderly and home bound through cards and letters in a program known as “Friends in Faith.” I can also be called to assist parishioners who have been ill or hospitalized by acting as a health educator, referral agent, and advocate. On Saturdays I make home visits and bring communion to those who are unable to leave their home to attend mass.
My greatest challenge is knowing who is in need of my services. Please contact me if you know of a lonely senior who could benefit from the “Friends in Faith” program. Please call me if you have a friend, family member, or neighbor who is ill or hospitalized; or if you know of someone who is no longer able to leave their home. A regular phone call or visit can make a big difference in someone’s life. Lastly, if you know anyone that is struggling with the effects of cancer, please encourage them to attend our cancer support group.
I am in the office most days between 4pm and 6pm, and on Saturday mornings. 353-6303 ext 125 firstname.lastname@example.org
