Faith Adventures
A New Approach to PSR

South St. Louis Faith Adventures provides experiences, teachings, and mentors to children in and near south St. Louis to lead them to faith in Jesus Christ through the Catholic Church, so that the children live as fully-initiated, intentional disciples in high school and beyond. This regional faith formation program, operated by Saint Stephen Protomartyr Parish in partnership with other parishes, is open to children from all Catholic parishes in and near south St. Louis.

Faith Adventures provides instruction equivalent to a standard Parish School of Religion program (PSR). Unlike standard PSR, Faith Adventures emphasizes lived experiences of Catholic prayer, community, and service, followed by small groups that process the experiences and learn Catholic teachings connected to the experience in age-cohort small groups of 6-8 children accompanied by 2 adult or teen mentors.

Faith Adventures sponsors monthly meetings on a rotating series of topics, so youth can join faith formation at any time during the year.

Faith Adventures sponsors a week-long summer camp focused on the story of Jesus and the proclamation of the Gospel.

Regular attendance at Faith Adventures provides the basic instruction needed to prepare children to receive the Sacrament of Penance and Holy Communion at age 7 or later, and the Sacrament of Confirmation around age 13.
